Though the economic indicators show that people are tightening their belts, industry analysts think that this trend is actually good for the prospects of the home entertainment business, including Blu-ray. "Experts cite the tough economy as the reason behind the heightened Blu-ray interest, as consumers with HDTV's are becoming more likely to focus on in-home entertainment spending, such as purchasing Blu-ray players and discs, instead of using the money for out of the home activities." With strong reported sales figures, and equally strong 'intent to buy' numbers (per Greenfield Online/Digital Entertainment Group's survey), the continuing trend better-than-expected market penetration growth for the Blu-ray continues. An interesting fact: the sales record set only recently by "Iron Man," with 260,000 units sold on release, was smashed by "Dark Knight," which more than doubled that figure with 600,000 sold.
