Although this story doesn't mention Blu-ray, the impact of HD TV market penetration has significant repercussions for the Blu-ray player growth curve. Unlike DVD, which fit nicely with everyone's standard definition TV set, Blu-ray is specifically designed to be used in conjunction with a HD TV. Once consumers get acclimated to HD programming, they're much more likely to purchase a Blu-ray player concurrently or as their next home entertainment purchase.
