BD-Live continues to be one of the most exciting areas of Blu-ray development. The capacity to refresh discs with new content has always been a Blu-ray selling point to the major studios and to consumers and there have been frequent announcements from authoring studios and start-ups of new BD-Live applications. A great deal of attention continues to be paid to the convergence of Blu-ray Discs and the burgeoning world of social media, but the way to monetize that activity has yet to be solved. In the meantime, we're intrigued by an e-commerce BD-Live app from Bright Stage Media which allows viewers to create a list of items from prompts in the feature presentation for purchase later on the internet. While there are some improvements we'd suggest for the 2.0 version of this particular application, this approach might be a way to converge content holders' business needs with consumers entertainment desires.
