The idea of 3D on Blu-ray has become a frequent topic recently on a number of Blu-ray news sites, including blu-ray.com and cnet.com. Looking beyond the challenges which confront 3D producers, it's interesting to note that the discussion centers around HOW Blu-ray will accommodate this new trend, not IF. As this article notes, the Blu-ray Disc Association members are taking a proactive approach to finding a way to assimilate 3D into Blu-ray. We can take this as evidence that there is a sustained commitment to support the format as a long-term media solution. With the box office success of movies such as Monsters vs. Aliens, such discussion is likely to become more urgent.
