This article is full of interesting statistics, reporting not only on the significant increase in player sales, but also on the increase in Blu-ray awareness and "intent to purchase" among consumers. These last two are particularly telling because they show a continuing trend among consumers that is separate from seasonal buying. All three trends are great news for the format, which has not yet overtaken DVD, but continues to post strong sales increases, as reported by Home Media Magazine, as more HDTV households upgrade their home entertainment system to take advantage of the improved picture quality. With this kind of start to 2009, we can expect great things for Blu-ray in 2009!
